Singapore Zoo

This is by far, our favourite among all Singapore's attractions. We have thoroughly enjoyed ourselves that day and W and I really believed this is one of the best zoos in the world!

It is inevitable that the word, "zoo" itself suggests cruelty when animals are being born and/or bred in captivity, however, I would like to think that Singapore Zoo is trying to its best to maintain its strong reputation internationally for its conservation initiatives and breeding programmes.

Set in a rainforest environment, Singapore Zoo's world famous "Open Concept” offers the opportunity to experience and be inspired by the wonders of nature. Singapore Zoo is part of Wildlife Reserves Singapore. The Zoo is a designated rescued wildlife centre by the governing authority.

Let me share with you some of these beautiful animals I've seen. That day was just fabulous. Not only were there animals that held you in awe, but it totally relaxes one's mind while walking through the rainforest. It was like falling right into the arms of nature.

If you only have one day to spend in Singapore, I would strongly recommend you to visit this park! You wouldn't regret!

Singapore Zoo is taking this further by evolving into an Open, Learning Zoo. Instead of just observing the animals, educational content designed in an interactive mode is a feature of all exhibits. These interpretives aim to effectively convey facts about the animals and messages about wildlife conservation.

Apart from watching 2 animal shows of the day (which brought us a lot of laughter), we also took a leisurely 20-minute Boat Ride at the boat dock from the white tiger exhibit, where it traversed the pristine waters of the Upper Seletar Reservoir and we were looking out for monitor lizards, stork-billed kingfishers or Singapore’s largest bird, the white-bellied sea eagle, as the boat glides through the water.

We went Night Safari a few days later but it was disappointing. I don't have any pictures because flash lights were not allowed in the Night Safari to protect the eyesight of the animals. Also, it was too dark to observe or see anything properly. We didn't really enjoy ourselves as much as the Singapore Zoo or the Jurong Bird Park.

However, it is still the world’s first wildlife night park afterall. I would suggest to visit this night safari at least once just to get the experience and especially, since if you bought the park hopper specials like us.

How to get there:

1. Alight at Ang Mo Kio station (NS16) and take bus service 138 from the bus interchange.
2. Alight at Choa Chu Kang station (NS4-BP1) and take bus service 927 from the bus interchange.
3. From Changi Airport station (EW29), board the train and alight at Tanah Merah station (EW4) to switch to the west-bound train to City Hall station (EW13-NS25), switch again to the north-bound train to Ang Mo Kio station (NS16) and take bus service 138 from the bus interchange.
4. From Changi Airport station (EW29), board the train and alight at Tanah Merah station (EW4) to switch to the west-bound train to Jurong East station (EW24-NS1), switch again to the north-bound train to Choa Chu Kang station (NS4-BP1) and take bus service 927 from the bus interchange.

On Sundays and public holidays, you may also:

1. Alight at Woodlands station (NS9) and take bus service 926 from the bus interchange.
2. Alight at Marsiling station (NS8), cross the road (Woodlands Ave 3) and take bus service 926.
