Universal Studios, Singapore

Universal Studios Singapore is located on Sentosa Island. It is the first in Southeast Asia and opened its doors officially in May 2011.

We were lucky to get complimentary tickets and it was a really scorching hot day when W and I went there.

W was really looking forward for a full day of fun cos his last trip to Universal Studios was more than 10 years ago when he was in the States for his summer holidays with his parents.



I like "Ancient Egypt" the most in Universal Studios.



I find these 2 statues the most magnificent in the park, more than those dinosaurs in "The Lost World". The ride inside was fabulous too.

If I compare Universal Studios with Disneyland, Paris, the former is much smaller and compact than the latter. We went on a Tuesday, so there was almost no queue or nobody for some of the rides. The longest queue we did for the day was only 25mins! So, I don't see the need to pay more for the Express ticket if you are going on a weekday (not during Singapore school holidays season).

The most exciting rides in this park surely lie in the Sci-Fi City: Battlestar Galactica: HUMAN & Battlestar Galactica: CYLON.

Battlestar Galactica: HUMAN was still manageable but Battlestar Galactica: CYLON made me nauseous, as in the real giddy and nauseous. Even W closed his eyes when it maneuvers its 5 inversions in the form of a Cobra roll, corkscrews, vertical loop, and a zero-g roll. I swear my legs turned a little bit jelly at the end of the ride.

These 2 roller coaster rides require everyone to place their belongings in the lockers located throughout the theme park (because there are other rides that do not allow you to bring any bags inside for safety reasons). It is free for the first 30 minutes, operated by an idiot-proof password system set by the user (your favourite colour & a 4-digit code).

Also, it can be really unbearable if you are outdoors in Singapore from June to August. This is the hottest period of the year in general. Make sure you are always well hydrated and drink lots of water to prevent any heat stroke from happening.

[How to get there]
Take a North-East line MRT rail system, alight at HarbourFront Station. From there, you may take any of the following transportation:

Sentosa Express: Go to the 3rd level (Lobby L) of VivoCity shopping mall to transfer to Sentosa Express to enter the resort.

RWS 8: Proceed to the bus stop either outside VivoCity or Merrill Lynch HarbourFront. For a flat fee of S$2.00, guests will be taken into the resort. The Sentosa Express

Take the Sentosa Express located on Level 3 VivoCity (Lobby L) then alight at Waterfront Station. A flat fee of S$3.00 applies.
