Automne 2011 #14

The day was beautiful, with big fluffy clouds, albeit warmer than usual, at around 32 degrees.
13H00, taken from the bolcony.

The same day, evening at 18H30.

My favourite - love the colours in this pic.

From my bedroom's window...

on a clear night...

on a rainy night...

on a foggy night...

on a night with lights' interferances...

I'll miss you.

Automne 2011 #11

There is a very lovely mini park right below my parents' apartment. It has been part of my life since 1988, whether it is walking back from the shopping centre nearby, from one of the coffeeshops, from one of the bus stops, coming back from school and lest to say, my daily jogging route etc., I know I'm home when I see it.

This park gives off different vibes during day and night. Usually, I like jogging in the evening when the weather is cooler. Also, there is this familiar group of joggers and elderly living nearby who I see almost everyday but never know their names, a smile of acknowledgement would suffice.

I love to look up at the "canopy" every time.

I will definitely miss you. See you again, soon.

I'm so used to living on high storeys that I don't feel anything looking down from the window while standing on my bed.

My Favourite Things #1

I love!! 和風 dishes, particularly those in blue.

The blue snow flakes theme plates look plain in pics, but in reality, it is really subtle & beautiful!
I'll always have a soft spot for rabbits. =)

Automne 2011 #1

Packing & re-arranging the kitchen stuff I have, I discovered I've forgotten their existence and they are all in their original packaging!
(Clockwise: Salad Box, Fruits Box & Cutlery Set Box - all in perfect portable sizes!!)

I recalled this cutlery box set is meant to be a backup for My Melody cutlery box set that FM bought for me in Taiwan. Of course, there is a big difference in price between the 2 of them, and I didn't want the My Melody one to wear out any time soon.

2 sets of measuring spoons - The top right corner is made in Japan, whilst the bottom left one is made in China. I prefer those made in Japan ones. There's the tempura Bamboo "chopsticks" that I often used cos W loves tempura, so this is a common dish on the dining table at home.

Do you know what is an effective method to test whether the oil for the tempura is hot enough? When I first started out cooking, I was taught to "throw" some water into the deep fryer, but that was pretty dangerous and I always jump back from the stove when I was performing the stunt. After some time, I've learnt that I can just placed DRY bamboo chopsticks (it must be wooden, else this trick won't work) right in the middle of the deep fryer - you know the oil is ready when the bubbles escaping from the partially submerged chopsticks are tiny and fast.

(Clockwise: 和風 rice bowls, miso soup bowls in sets of 2)

It was FM who made me realised that aesthetically pleasing kitchenware and cutlery really liftens one's mood at the dining table. I still remembered all her Habitat stuff. Hope she is all well in Taiwan now. =D

Home Spices & Herbs Garden

KL just started gardening spices at her new place! And, the sight of it just excites me!! I remember always wanting to plant them in the kitchen or bolcony, but I never put the plan into action, yet.

Panpannie is the very first among all my friends to plant her own set of aloe veras and pandan leaves. She is also the one in the house who chops off those overgrown branches from one of those big trees they have in their compound!! Haha!! I always find the way she illustrated her housework activities to be highly amusing when I read it. These are some of the pics I got off her blog on her backyard plants (No disclosure of her blog address here as I know she would prefer to keep it within her circle of family & friends). I just love the way she names everyone of them! I wanna go Daiso and get those labels too when I start my own home gardening activities!!

Beautiful, isn't it!!!

Herbs & Spices I would like to plant in my house!!:
  • Mint (I like it in my tea or even making one of my fav cocktails, Mojito!!)
  • Oregano (Rub between palms before adding to release more flavor)
  • Thyme
  • Basilic (Goes with oregano well, good on its own too!)
  • Rosemary (Poultry basic)
  • Dillweed (Great for fish)
  • Sage
  • Parsley
  • Bayleaf (A must for soups and stews)
  • Tarragon
  • Pandan
  • Curry
  • Aloe Vera
  • Lemongrass
It's such a pleasure and luxury to be able to pluck off herbs or spices fresh from your very own plants at home while you are cooking, don't you think so?  I actually find the scene itself to be very cool! LoL!

Eté 2011 #8

Torchon de Cuisine Gingham

This is hand-made especially for me by my bestie!! ♥♥
I have them in 2 sizes - One, I presumed is the common kitchen towel, the other should be used as a serviette.
They are completely reversible - Gingham design on one side, and polka dots on the other, lined with the same polka dot fabric.

I will get her to teach me how to DIY these!!
Imagine the joy and satisfaction if you can DIY stuffs around your home =D

The workmanship is truly meticulous, isn't it?

Blue theme grocery shopping bags! =DD

Eté 2011 #4

Fatal weakness for wood at home.
I see great beauty in natural materials like these.

I don't know when I started buying things in pairs =D
It's always a wonderful feeling knowing you have someone to share everything with you.
I have deliberately kept the "Rose Series" Sticker in the pic because the next line reads, "Create your own happy life" which I like and appreciated very much.

Life's little pleasures in the bathroom!!

You don't need a lot to be happy, do you?
